Tell me about a time you went out of your way to help a colleague succeed -- whether they were struggling with a project, preparing for a promotion, or dealing with a challenging situation. What did you do and what was the impact?
The interviewer is looking for: whether you invest in others' success without being asked, your ability to identify what someone needs and provide it, selflessness in an environment that often rewards individual performance, and the impact your help had on the person.
How to approach it

Choose a situation where your help was not part of your job responsibilities and required real effort or sacrifice on your part. The best examples involve you noticing someone needed help before they asked for it.
- Hint 2
Describe specifically what you did: did you pair program with them, advocate for them in meetings they weren't in, help them prepare for a presentation, take on some of their work to free them up, or connect them with the right people? Be concrete about the time and effort you invested.
- Hint 3
Focus the outcome on the other person's success, not your own satisfaction. What were they able to accomplish because of your help? How did it affect their confidence, career, or capabilities? If appropriate, mention what you got out of it too -- but lead with their outcome.
